Project Assistant in Neurodegenerative Diseases

Workplace Description

The research group focuses on neurodegenerative diseases, particularly Parkinson's disease and normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH).

We utilize various radiological methods – especially magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) – to study both the pathophysiology of the diseases and their diagnostic characteristics.

The group is led by Charalampos Georgiopoulos, associate professor and senior physician in neuroradiology. Other members include four clinical doctoral students and a senior researcher, and we collaborate closely with MRI physicists. We are a transdisciplinary and dynamic group with a strong clinical foundation and a common goal to improve diagnostics and understanding of neurodegenerative conditions using advanced imaging diagnostics.

We are now looking for a project assistant at 100% for one month, from July 1 to July 31, 2026.

Job Responsibilities and Areas of Responsibility

We are looking for a medical student interested in deepening their knowledge in imaging diagnostics and neurodegenerative diseases. The assignment is part of an ongoing research study and involves the student, under supervision, reviewing approximately 200 MRI examinations according to a standardized template.

The student is also expected to participate in data processing, be involved in statistical analysis, and contribute to manuscript writing for scientific publication. The position offers a good insight into research methodology and advanced image review in neuroradiology.

Qualifications

Requirements for the position are:

  • Ongoing education in the medical program
  • Attention to detail and good ability to work in a structured manner.
  • Interest in imaging diagnostics and research.
  • Good collaboration skills

Meritorious:

  • Previous studies in technology or engineering education
  • Experience working with statistical programs such as SPSS, R, or similar
  • Basic knowledge in medical image interpretation or radiology

Other

The position is a SÄVA (special fixed-term employment) at 100% for 1 month. The desired start date is July 1, 2026, or by agreement.
